When you are planning a wedding - whether it’s an intimate gathering on a private Texas ranch or a midnight expedition under the stars - you aren’t just looking for someone to "take photos". You are looking for a partner, a navigator, and a creative team that values organic connection over scripted perfection.

To help you navigate the wedding industry with confidence, we sat down and thoroughly answered every critical question you should think about before hiring your creative team. This exhaustive guide was inspired by Lily Blomquist’s foundational piece on Brides.com, alongside classic questionnaires from The Knot. We have expanded on those industry standards here to give you complete transparency into exactly how we protect your legacy.

To make this blueprint easy to digest, we’ve organized all the questions into categories , or parts:

  • Part I: Availability, Logistics, & Team Structure (1-6)

  • Part II: Venue Familiarity, Vendor Collaboration, & Creative Philosophy (7-12)

  • Part III: Photography Style, Technical Approach, & Mediums (13-18)

  • Part IV: Investment, Collections, & Custom Add-ons (19-25)

  • Part V: Deliverables, Turnaround Times, & Heirlooms (26-31)

  • Part VI: Business Policies, Contracts, & Financial Maps (32-36)

  • Part VII: Contingencies, Insurance, & Event-Day Protection (37-42)

Part I: Availability, Logistics, & Team Structure

1. Is my wedding date available?

There are two easy ways to reach out to us and inquire if your wedding date is available. One is via our website contact form, and the other is to schedule a Discovery Call. Scheduling a Discovery Call will alert us to send you a brief questionnaire, and one of those questions is your Wedding Date. We'll review your questionnaire responses in preparation for our call with you to ensure your date is open.

2. Are you currently offering any promotions?

As of June 2026, our current promotion is our Signature Stargazing Experience included completely free of charge with any 2026 weddings booked with our Solar Collection or Cosmos Collection packages. You can get the full scoop on our Wedding & Stargazing Bundle page!

The Quick-Action Incentive: If you love our work and are ready to officially join the Pack during our initial Discovery Call, we will apply a 5% savings to your collection total as a thank you for your clarity and excitement! We will be prepared to draft your Service Agreement immediately and make it available for review and your signatures.

3. Will you be the one shooting our wedding? If not, can I meet the photographer who will be onsite?

Wolfpack Wedding Co. does not operate under an "Associate Model." Yes, Jon is always the lead photographer, and Heather is always the assistant / second photographer. You will work directly with the two of us from day one. If you want to learn more about us, our About Us page is a great place to start!

4. How many other weddings will you photograph that weekend (of our wedding)?

Wolfpack is committed to booking only one wedding per weekend, and a maximum of 26 weddings per year intentionally. This ensures each couple gets our full attention, focus, and creative energy. While this does contribute to our pricing model, it elevates the value of our service by ensuring you don't get burnt-out, spread-thin photographers entrusted with your wedding day, and instead, you get us fresh, present, and fully engaged in YOUR Day.

5. Will you have any assistants with you on our wedding day?

Yes. All of our Collections include our husband-and-wife wedding photographer team, Jon and Heather. We love working together and serving couples alongside each other in the field.

6. Do you often shoot weddings that have a similar size to the one we are planning?

We have captured the full breadth of events and weddings, from intimate courthouse ceremonies, backyard gatherings, and city park weddings to extravagant 300+ guest celebrations with multiple destinations within a single day in the DFW metroplex. More than likely, yes.

Part II: Venue Familiarity, Vendor Collaboration, & Creative Philosophy

7. Have you ever shot a wedding at our venue? If not, do you plan to check the venue out in advance?

In Jon's 14+ years as a wedding photographer, it's very likely we have. However, we are intentionally branching out to specific types of weddings and venues we have not shot at before. Part of this effort is why we conduct Styled Shoots, allowing us to learn what it is like to shoot at a venue or location that is brand new to us but fits our specific aesthetic. If we have not shot at your particular wedding location before, we are committed to doing our due diligence. This includes visiting in person to scout it, reaching out to other photographers who have shot there, and contacting venue management for specialized logistics.

8. Have you ever worked with our wedding planner or videographer?

We have worked alongside a wide breadth of coordinators, videographer teams, and content creation teams. Our philosophy is to keep the main thing the main thing: capturing your day and serving you with excellence. During the wedding planning phase, your questionnaire will include fields for other vendors you are working with, their contact information, and their social handles. We enjoy connecting with them beforehand about the timeline to ensure we bring a cohesive, collaborative effort to your day.

9. What do love and marriage mean to you?

Our meaning of love and marriage is derived from our Creator and Heavenly Father, and His Word. Love, in the Eros sense, is a beautiful bond and a journey two people commit to. Marriage is a sacred covenant a man and woman vow, for better or worse, before God, their community, families, loved ones, and to each other, only to be broken by death. We believe the institution of marriage was designed, ratified, and blessed by our Creator, and the associated covenant carries great weight. Scripture teaches that marriage is a picture, a likeness, of the relationship between Jesus Christ and His Bride, the Church. Ultimately, marriage is the journey of two becoming one, returning to our original design (Eve being pulled out of Adam’s side), and participating in our mandate to build a healthy, cohesive society (leave, cleave, be fruitful, and multiply).

10. Are you passionate about photographing weddings? If so, why?

Photographing weddings brings us profound purpose and meaning. We do not want to waste our limited time on this Earth doing something mindless and void of purpose. When it comes to weddings, we focus on anticipating and preserving meaningful moments while navigating unexpected hurdles with a proactive, solution-focused attitude. We are deeply aware that some of these photographs may serve as the final images of a cherished guest or relative, and we are honored to document that unique narrative.

11. What do you value most when working with couples?

We recognize that a wedding is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime ceremony marking the union of two souls as they commit to their life's journey together. This is a profound and beautiful occasion, and we welcome the weight of such an event. We have dedicated ourselves to honing our skills and problem-solving abilities to serve this milestone. We genuinely enjoy hearing from couples about their planning progress and the stories that brought them here.

12. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

Jon has been shooting weddings since 2012, and has photographed about 25+ weddings as the sole or lead photographer, and another 25+ as a second photographer for Gingersnap Studios and Jacki Lee Sinoja (his OG Wedding Mentor in the 2014-2016 era). Heather has photographed about 5 weddings with Jon and about 7 weddings as a second photographer with Gingersnap Studios as well. We have developed a proven, repeatable client journey for our couples, and we prioritize keeping an open, timely line of communication with you along the way.

Part III: Photography Style, Technical Approach, & Mediums

13. Can we see the full galleries of a few of your recent weddings?

Certainly! We believe in total transparency. You can view our full galleries and complete body of work by visiting our main portfolio portal.

14. How would you describe Wolfpack's photography style? What would you compare your work to?

We look at style in two ways: our technical approach on the day-of, and the aesthetic editing style we deliver.

The Technical Approach: Our photography is defined by a hybrid approach, utilizing a specialized kit of three lenses to achieve a specific artistic vision. During your wedding, we balance our presence by spending roughly 40% of the time closely interacting with you and your guests, while the remaining 60% is spent at a distance. Like an investigative reporter, we observe from afar to capture candid moments and creative compositions that tell the complete story of your celebration.

The Aesthetic Style: Your gallery features images that are properly exposed and tastefully edited in a nostalgic, cinematic, vintage film style. We use muted highlights and softly crushed blacks to emulate the classic aesthetic of vintage camera snapshots. While our colors remain true-to-life, they are enhanced with a dark-and-moody overlay reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest; we would not describe our work as "light and airy".

When professionals shoot in RAW, every resulting image is flat and desaturated. Our job is to bring the image back to life in a way that reveals the beauty as it actually felt. In terms of location preference, we differ from standard luxury studios: we prefer to shoot in National Parks and wild places rather than big fancy ballrooms or ornate cathedrals.

15. How did your style originate? How is it evolving?

During the initial five years of Jon's 14-year professional journey, his training was initiated by jumping in headfirst solo, and within a couple years realized he needed a mentor to show him how to serve couples professionally. Jacki Lee Sinoja was that mentor for 2-3 years (2014-2016). They would discuss business best-practices, how to prepare for a wedding, and how to document the Wedding Day narrative with skill and creativity, and Jon shot 5 or 6 weddings alongside her during those years. When it came to his kit, originally he relied on accessible, wide-angle glass - specifically 24mm and 40mm optics. In time, he transitioned to a trio of lenses that he truly cherishes:

  • The Wide Dynamic: A 16-28mm Tokina, which is an exceptional asset for capturing expansive church interiors, lively dance floors, and large group portraits.

  • The Low-Light Workhorse: A premium 45mm Tamron; its superior light-gathering capabilities make it indispensable in low-light settings, and its weather-resistant build ensures we keep documenting even during unexpected rain.

  • The Crown Jewel: A 135mm f/2 Canon L series lens. This lens refined his ability to "snipe" intimate moments from a distance, allowing him to remain unobtrusive during your ceremony while still capturing close-up emotion.

Approximately seven years ago, Jon integrated professional off-camera flash systems into his workflow. Utilizing multiple flashes allows us to expertly sculpt light during receptions and formal portraits, ensuring we can expose both a beautiful sunset background and the couple properly without silhouetting.

Our shooting style has also evolved around human behavior. We’ve learned that the most engaging moments happen right after a formal portrait is taken, when everyone relaxes, cracks a joke, and laughs a genuine laugh. That is the candid moment we are always prepared to capture.

16. Do you shoot digitally? With film? Or both?

We primarily shoot digital, but we do offer an authentic Polaroid service that comes included with our Solar and Cosmos Collections, and is available as an add-on to our Lunar Collection. These physical Polaroids are handed directly to you at the end of your wedding before we leave the venue!

If you want to ensure your wedding day is comprehensively captured on traditional analog film as well, we highly recommend Natalie Deela at Deela Studios. She has completely mastered film photography, and we have partnered with her to make her service easy to book as an add-on to our Solar and Cosmos Collections, learn more here! (scroll about half way down the Investment Guide to read the section about this collaboration)

17. What is your photo editing style?

As children of the '80s and '90s, we developed an early passion for retro film aesthetics and distinct color profiles. Our current approach is executed with professional restraint: we apply a gentle teal shift to our blues, a slight orange tilt to our reds, and pair softly crushed shadows with muted highlights. For couples seeking something truly unique, our Creative Edits add-on allows us the freedom to move beyond traditional boundaries, blending technical alchemy and artistic play to create extra magic for special images.

18. How would you describe your working style?

We find immense joy in connecting with our couples, their wedding party, and loved ones from the very start. Establishing a genuine rapport early on ensures everyone feels at ease in our presence, transforming a moment from one of self-conscious hesitation into a display of confident, radiant smiles. Because Jon's professional roots were established using wide lenses, he is naturally comfortable working in close proximity to subjects, giving him the interpersonal skills necessary to evoke and preserve authentic emotions.

Part IV: Investment, Collections, & Custom Add-ons

19. How much does your standard package cost?

Our standard wedding collections start at $3,600. We have detailed each package, available add-ons, and our Vintage Film collaboration with Deela Studios clearly on our public Investment Guide page.

20. Can we customize a package to fit our needs?

Yes. On your Discovery Call Prep Questionnaire, which we send to you upon scheduling your call, one of the questions asks which of our Collections best aligns with your wedding day vision. The fourth option is explicitly listed as: "Bespoke / Custom (We are planning an elopement, a multi-day event, or have unique destination needs)". We will tailor the scope directly on our call.

21. Does Wolfpack Wedding Co. include engagement photos in your packages? What about pre-wedding events like rehearsal dinners, or Bridal Portraits?

All three of our standard collections include an Engagement Session, a second photographer, and an Heirloom Print Credit that scales with each Collection ($200, $400, and $800, respectively). Those are our non-negotiables that we want to ensure every couple receives. Bridal Portrait Sessions are available as an add-on for $300, and are built directly into our top-tier Cosmos Collection. Our Cosmos Collection also includes full coverage of your Rehearsal Dinner.

22. How many hours are included in each package? How much do extra hours cost?

Our Lunar Collection comes with up to 8 hours of coverage, our Solar Collection comes with up to 10 hours, and our Cosmos Collection comes with Unlimited Hours, which we characterize as 12+ hours (including your Rehearsal Dinner). Full details can be reviewed on our Investment Guide.

23. Do you offer a photo booth?

While we don't offer a traditional photo booth ourselves, we are incredibly impressed with local partners whose specialized photo booth services start at $500. They utilize a modern platform where a mechanical arm swings around you to capture highly engaging 360* slow-motion videos. We are happy to drop you their link!

24. Do you offer retouching, color adjustment, or other corrective services? Are those included or an additional charge?

Standard professional retouching comes included with all packages. This generally includes facial skin cleanup, teeth whitening, eye enhancement on key portraits, and skin tonal consistency across the delivered gallery. We are always responsive to clear, reasonable requests for re-edits. Advanced Creative Edits - where we have the freedom to be creatively expressive with additional stylized versions of certain images - is included in our Solar and Cosmos Collections, and is available as a $200 add-on for the Lunar Collection.

25. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance does that cover?

We manage our travel logistics transparently across four specific zones:

Zone A (Grayson County): No travel fee whatsoever is incurred for any shoots within Grayson County, Texas.

Zone B (Regional Texas): Locations outside of Grayson County incur a flat, nominal roundtrip travel rate of $1.00 per mile calculated from our home base in Denison, Texas.

Zone C (Multi-Hour Driving): A flat travel fee of $600 to $900 applies for multi-hour destinations located across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Zone D (National & International): Destinations requiring flights (such as Rocky Mountain National Park, Scotland, or Hawaii) receive a completely customized, all-inclusive quote covering flights, lodging, rental car, and session time with zero hidden surprises.

Part V: Deliverables, Turnaround Times, & Heirlooms

26. Can we order prints or albums directly from you? What type of album do you offer? Do you provide assistance selecting images and designing the album?

We are incredibly passionate about this area of our work. Every collection comes with a personalized Gallery Reveal Session. Ideally, we meet in person at a comfortable local space, but if distance is an issue, we host this remotely. We invite you and your spouse to set apart a date night, grab your favorite drinks, and settle in for a cinematic premiere of your wedding day as a slideshow video. Following the premiere, we personally guide you through available layout options so you can use your built-in Heirloom Print Credit with confidence. All of our physical print orders are fulfilled by the master printers at White House Custom Colour to guarantee museum-grade quality.

27. Are albums or prints included in your packages? How many pages or prints are included, and what is the turnaround time?

Each collection includes a dedicated Heirloom Print Credit (Lunar: $200 | Solar: $400 | Cosmos: $800) to spend directly inside your gallery store. Physical print fulfillment features a fast 1 to 3 week turnaround time, which includes printing, our internal studio quality review, white-glove packaging, and shipping.

Our Signature Photo Album features a continuous print, expertly mounted from edge to edge on sturdy insert boards to ensure a completely seamless lay-flat presentation. It holds anywhere from 5 to 25 thick spreads (or 5 to 40 thin spreads), is available in sizes ranging from 8\times8'' up to 11\times14'', features 3 distinct cover styles (Cameo, Combo, or Full Material), offers over 40 premium leather or linen materials, and can be personalized with custom text debossing.

28. How long after the wedding will we receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Around two weeks post-wedding, we send you a proactive progress update on our editing timeline via email so you never have to wonder where your memories are. During this update, we will coordinate and schedule your upcoming Gallery Reveal Session.

At the 4 to 6 week mark, we host your Gallery Reveal Session. This is where we view your full story together and you sign our Product Delivery & Acceptance Agreement, officially transitioning your digital legacy into your hands. The high-resolution private gallery link is emailed directly to you during this session, allowing you to instantly download images and share the link with family.

29. Will we have the rights to the images?

Yes. When you receive your completed gallery and sign the Product Delivery & Acceptance Agreement, it includes an official clause outlining your permanent image usage rights for personal use.

30. Will we receive the negatives and/or high-resolution digital images? Is there a fee for that?

You will absolutely receive your fully processed, high-resolution digital images, and there is never an extra fee to download them! We believe your memories belong to you, so high-res digital delivery is standard for every single collection.

  • High-Res Digital Gallery: Within 4 to 6 weeks, you will receive a secure link to download every single edited, high-resolution image at no additional cost.

  • Personal Print Release: You receive an official personal print release giving you lifetime rights to share your photos online, make your own prints, and build personal gifts.

  • What About RAW/Negatives?: We do not deliver raw, unedited files. Just like a chef wouldn't serve raw ingredients, we don't deliver unfinished work. The editing, color grading, and meticulous processing are a massive part of the "Wolfpack style" you are investing in, and we promise to deliver a completely polished final product.

31. Will the images be accessible online? For how long?

Yes! Your images will be hosted in a beautiful, private client gallery sent to your email within 4 to 6 weeks of your wedding date. You can easily share this link with loved ones so they can view, download, or order their own physical prints directly from our integrated professional lab.

To give you complete peace of mind, Wolfpack Wedding Co. guarantees that your photographs will be securely stored and accessible in our digital vault for 3 full years from your wedding date. While we always recommend backing your images up to your own hard drive upon delivery, your legacy is safe with us.

Part VI: Business Policies, Contracts, & Financial Maps

32. When will we receive the contract?

We believe in listening before we write. Because every love story and wedding timeline is unique, we do not send out generic, automated contracts the moment you fill out a contact form.

  1. Initial Contact: You send an inquiry, and we pass along our detailed Investment Guide.
  2. The Questionnaire: You fill out a quick Discovery Call Prep Questionnaire to give us a baseline map of your wedding vision.
  3. The Discovery Call: We hop on a phone or video call together to connect, brainstorm coverage hours, and ensure we are a great match.
  4. The Live Proposal: Within 15 to 30 minutes of hanging up from our call, we send a customized digital contract portal to your inbox alongside our signature "Plain English" guide for total clarity.

Once received, we ask that both partners review, sign, and submit the retainer within 48 to 72 hours to officially secure your date on our calendar.

33. Who needs to sign our contract, and can a parent or third party pay for our photography services?

To keep your paperwork clean, completely transparent, and legally protected, our strict studio policy requires that both partners (the bride and groom) and both of us (Jon and Heather) sign the Service Agreement. We do not separate the contract signers from the financial payers.

Here is exactly why we maintain this boundary and how we smoothly navigate family contributions:

The Third-Party Payee Standard: We frequently serve couples whose generous parents, grandparents, or family members wish to pay for part or all of their wedding photography investment. To protect everyone's peace of mind, our standard professional practice is to request that family members send those generous financial gifts directly to you. From there, you and your partner can make the payments through your private client portal attached to your agreement.

Why We Keep This Boundary: From a legal and operational standpoint, if a third party pays a business directly without being a signing party on the official contract, they can legally dispute charges or demand refunds independently of the couple's wishes.

Total Protection for Your Day: Keeping the financial transactions directly between the couple and the Wolfpack team ensures that you and your partner remain the sole authors of your wedding logistics. It eliminates any outside administrative friction, protects your financial investment, and guarantees a completely smooth, stress-free experience from start to finish.

34. How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due?

We don't take a traditional "deposit" - instead, we require a 20% non-refundable retainer fee. While a deposit is simply a down payment, a retainer officially hires our business and legally locks your wedding date on our calendar, meaning we turn down all other potential clients for that day to protect yours. The retainer is exactly 20% of your total collection package base and is due at the time of contract signing.

  • The Quick-Action Incentive: If you love our work and are ready to officially join the Pack during our initial Discovery Call, we will apply a 5% savings to your collection total as a thank you for your clarity and excitement!

35. What is your full payment process, and do you offer payment plans?

To keep your wedding journey as stress-free as possible, we utilize a structured, transparent payment map:

  • The Retainer (At Signing): A 20% non-refundable retainer is due alongside your signatures to officially lock in your date.

  • The Final Balance (30 Days Prior): Your remaining balance is due exactly 30 days before your wedding date. This standard milestone ensures all financial administrative details are completely cleared away well in advance, leaving your wedding week entirely free of money transactions so you can focus 100% on your family.

  • Custom Installment Options: We absolutely offer payment plans! We remember exactly what it felt like to plan our own wedding and want to extend the same flexibility that our wedding photographer once extended to us. While the final balance must be cleared by the 30-day mark, we are happy to break your remaining balance down into monthly or custom milestone installments leading up to that date. Just let us know on our call!

36. What is your refund or cancellation policy?

We keep our cancellation policies clear, upfront, and straightforward:

  • The Retainer: The initial 20% retainer is strictly non-refundable, as it compensates us for committing our calendar to your day and turning down all other inquiries.

  • Cancellations & Rescheduling: If you need to cancel or reschedule, we require official written notice at least 30 days before your scheduled date.

Final Balances: Any fees paid up to the date of a client cancellation are non-refundable. However, if an extreme, outside "Force Majeure" event (like a natural disaster, pandemic, or major emergency) forces a cancellation, any prepaid fees for services we haven't performed yet will be returned to you promptly, excluding the retainer.

Part VII: Contingencies, Insurance, & Event-Day Protection

37. Do you have liability insurance? Does it cover your assistants as well?

Yes, Wolfpack Wedding Co. is fully insured. We carry a comprehensive commercial policy that includes full General Liability insurance (to protect people and property at the venue) as well as complete equipment protection for all of our gear. If your venue requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI) or needs to be named as an "Additional Insured" on our policy before stepping onto the property, just let us know! We can generate a custom certificate and email it over to your venue within 24 hours at no extra cost.

38. Do you carry backup equipment?

At Wolfpack, our middle name is redundancy! We always travel to events with a minimum of four professional cameras, an extensive assortment of specialized lenses, backup tripods, off-camera flashes, and a massive supply of extra batteries and dual-slot SD cards. If we ever need a backup piece of kit that is currently in the shop for routine maintenance, we will rent it well in advance of your wedding day to ensure zero gaps in coverage.

39. What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot our wedding for an unexpected reason?

While we have never missed a wedding, we practice strict stewardship over your peace of mind. If an extreme, unforeseen medical emergency or severe illness prevents us from being there, our legal backup plan activates immediately:

  • The Trusted Substitute: We will secure a vetted, high-caliber associate photographer from our exclusive professional network to step in and shoot your day under our exact structural guidelines and brand standards.

  • Your Veto Power: Any replacement is entirely subject to your approval. If you are not completely comfortable with the substitute we find, we will immediately cancel the agreement and issue you a 100% refund of all fees paid, including your retainer. (This is the only operational scenario in which the retainer is refundable).

40. What will you and your assistants wear?

We arrive in neutral, professional, and understated attire—typically black slacks, dress shoes, and a tastefully branded black polo or black button-up dress shirt. This ensures we remain visually low-profile, coordinate with your wedding aesthetic, and blend cleanly into the crowd.

41. Can we request a list of specific shots we would like?

Absolutely. If you can provide a list of specific groupings or requested moments, your wish is our command. If we foresee any logistical or lighting challenges with specific requests based on your venue layout, we will communicate transparently with you during our timeline call to find a creative solution.

42. Will you be posting about our wedding on your website and social media? Will you be submitting our photos to magazines or blogs?

Often, we will share a few favorite highlight shots from your wedding day or engagement session on our social media, website portfolio, or in social media marketing to update our public body of work. We may also feature your wedding day as a story on our blog. If your completed gallery is a strong candidate for publishing in a regional wedding magazine, we would love to discuss that with you beforehand - it is an incredibly cool experience to share your visual legacy and help inspire future couples!
